The Stairs

Hurts and pains beneath the stairs
Secrets and lies kept prisoner there
Heart in chains and soul in bind
The ache and agony grow with time
Yet locked away, this terror remains
Mind, body, spirit burned and stained
Surface to remain strong, guarded and true
Walls erected so none can see through
Above these stairs you walk and stomp
Unbeknownst to you the secrets below that romp
Each acidic word slices deep the gut
Cutting down to them where away theyre shut
Never would you realize the damage you do
But its all my fault, Id never let you through
The pain I feel is mine and mine alone
You’ve only done that which you know
Inwardly these secrets do burn
Forever my lesson, my subject to learn
Never ending memories suffocate beneath
These stairs you walk, this person to see
